Only 65 days after conception of the private beta after the proposal was accepted on Area 51, and after the successful launch as permanent Q&A site in our new Ubuntu design, we have reached the 2000 question threshold. Those 2000 questions have been answered to 93% with 5000 answers by 4000 users. 20000 votes have been cast for the questions and answers.

After a reboot the wireless interface on my laptop did not connect any more. In this case, it was an intel 3945 wireless interface, but this workaround may work with other drivers too.
I noticed that I could not scan the interface anymore with "sudo iwlist wlan0 scanning." It would respond with "device or resource busy".
I therefore removed and inserted the device module in the kernel.
sudo rmmod iwl3945
sudo modprobe iwl3945

The public beta of the ubuntu site at stackexchange has now launched as an official site as was officially announced. Jeff Atwood praises the strong partnership between Canonical and the Ubuntu community with stackexchange. I believe this is the first such partnership.

If thunderbird does not work (crashed with segmentation fault) and the authentication for the user accounts is done via ldap, it is possible that the nscd packages has not been installed. After installing this package, thunderbird should work fine again.
